Review of Dead Ringers (1988) by Robert H — 13 Oct 2013
In DEAD RINGERS, David Cronenberg tells the brilliantly twisted and tragic tale of how the relationship unravels between twin brothers (who also happen to be gynecologists). Jeremy Irons gives two excellent performances as each of the brothers, and each with their own subtle nuances of character.
Noteworthy for graphic gore in his films, Cronenberg actually tones that down somewhat here, though the film itself is no less "weird" or "disturbing" than usual. The only issue I had with it was the slack pace.
Other than that, it's another great effort from Cronenberg.
