Review of Dead Presidents (1995) by Senor C — 11 Apr 2010
When I was in college I dug out the double vinyl of Dead Presidents (that was still in its plastic wrap) & played it excessively on my radio show. I hadn't seen this yet but I really wanted to because its 60s & 70s soul soundtrax was outstanding.
Seeing it now Dead Presidents is truly an ambitious endeavor that I had put off too long. I usually hate Chris Tucker but he is excellent in this; in fact the entire cast is getting the most out of Hughes brothers script.
Sorta split in 4 parts the scenes set in Vietnam rival just about anything I've seen on the subject & that's including Platoon. The only thing keeping this from being a modern masterpiece is the heist seems a little rushed & could have used another reel of film (especially if you're going to derive your title from it).
