Review of Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982) by Matt M — 28 Jan 2013
Comedy thriller about a private eye coming to the aid of a beautiful heiress. This film is not just a tribute in a comedic key to film noirs, it actually includes and is somewhat built around different scenes from many of the classics of the fourties and thirties.
As expected, this is a gimmick that inevitably gets in the way of a rewarding storyline, though it flatters its interesting photography. Steve Martin is the perfect choice for the lead role.
