Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Jim G — 16 May 2012
A guy serving in the military, returns home after finding out that something happened to his mentally ill brother,in order to take revenge.
A nicely done, fast paced action-drama-thriller with the strongest part of it is that of being a whole movie in just 86' . Plot isn't original, but still is good and enjoyable with only 1-2 minor plot advancers that happen raher "easily".Ending could be better (sudden guilt shrouds Richard) but in matters of the movie's idea is fitting and also has a duality that puts you into thinking .That is,although you have doubts about Anthony's existence or his condition and you think you have figure it all( the fact that Anthony is a motivational image for his brother in the way the movie ends you find out that Richard may also be schizophrenic thus in his moment of clarity seeking redemption for his actions).
Memorable scenes are the scene in the bar where Richard confronts one of the torturers, the triple killing in the house after overdosing the murderers, and of course the ambiguous finale mentioned above.
RATING : 7.5.
