Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Dee P — 13 Apr 2008
One of the best British thrillers in recent years. The story is essentially a revenge western set among petty villainy in rural Derbyshire. Shane Meadows keeps the audience guessing about what motivates the Paddy Considine character and ratchets up the tension.
The scene where Considine drugs and terrorises the local hoodlums is both original and searing stuff. You wouldn't want him on your case.
