Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Darren L — 02 Oct 2008
Gritty, and too close to home for comfort.
This film feels very real for me, not because i've been in the situations demonstrated but the fact that these instances do happen.
Bullying is a very real occurrence, and if you are the victim, then the revenge demonstrated in Dead Man Shoes is very similar to the thoughts that the average victim might think.
What surprised me most about this film is the cinematography. There are a lot of hand held shots which usually mean only one thing - amateur film. But in this film it somehow draws you even closer to the narrative.
A very compelling film by Mr. Meadows. I look forward to his next feature.
