Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Shawn-Ray M — 30 Nov 2008
It's nice to see a movie, especially one wrapped up in the revenge/slasher genre, rely more on story than violence and gore, but unfortunately that's all that can really be said for this movie.
It wasn't too particularly interesting and though I was behind the protagonists motives you had to sit through the entire movie to truly understand them. That being said the ending took an interesting, though not entirely original turn which really brought brought everything full circle.
Still, I wish this movie had a better budget or actual actors to tell the story (though props to Shane Meadows for using entirely unknown non-actors) because the acting and lack of budget (something I normally wouldn't complain about) hurt this movie more than anything else.
