Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Helen C — 01 Jul 2009
Five stars. Excellent performances from all. 'Richard' - Paddy Considine - presents such raw, visceral emotion. There is no questioning his motives. Some perfectly funny moments too, desperately needed to create a balance between the film's natural intensity.
Stunningly beautiful choice of location â?? an almost unsettling contrast with the horrific acts of violence and torture performed throughout, both past and present current plot. When all comes to ahead towards the end of the film, one is overwhelmed with a sense of injustice and grief.
While it didnâ??t push me to tears, I was speechless. The film can really hit your world from a different angle. Itâ??s not a comfortable watch, but most definitely worth it.
