Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Dave R — 07 Oct 2009
Great film. I went into this cold - didn't read anything about it. the only thing knew was that it's been likened to "get carter" (the original movie). I think part of the success of this film for me was the tone it took - it comes off rather understated, a quality becoming more and more rare in movies these days. most movies nowadays tend to be in your face and overbearing in how they unfold the story.
It's about I guy, richard, seeking revenge against some people who did his brother wrong but it's a little more complex. I kept thinking that the retribution was excessive BUT later we find out that there's an element of guilt in richard's motives.
