Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Chris L — 26 Oct 2009
Apparently I made the mistake of judging a book by it's cover here, as I see I once rated this as 'not interested'. I'm really glad I changed my mind. In my defense, the cover and the synopsis made me feel as if I were looking at a straight to video knockoff of Saw/Hostel.
It's actually one of the better revenge films out there. The acting is believable, the vibe disturbingly creepy, and I haven't sympathized with a hell-bent madman like this in a long time. My only problem is in how the local crew of bad guys reacts to EVERY situation they're in when dealing with this guy's antics.
But hey, if I were in their position, I'd be so intimidated and scared shitless that I'd probably become a half-wit as well.
