Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Daniel P — 31 Mar 2012
A complex and morally confusing story of revenge.
The film combines blood curdling scenes of murder with a touching story of a simple brother's misfortune.
There is an incredible amount of depth in the film and a second watching would definitely help. The problem with this is the film's content is so disturbing one would not want to return to it for some time.
There are some powerful messages in the film yet Shane Meadows knows when to let the audience think for themselves and leaves the morality of the story with the viewer.
Worth a watch for the truly tremendous performances by Paddy Considine and Toby Kebbell.
