Review of Dead Man's Shoes (2004) by Richard P — 03 Aug 2016
Was recommended by a pal, sadly not perhaps as good as I might have expected, felt dry and over/under acted in parts. Other scenes were almost comical in their presentation.
Overall the story-line was poorly presented and could have perhaps been introduced a little better, the fake 8mm vintage camera effects looked and felt fake and sadly detracted from what should have been important scenes of the film.
The cast were less than stellar, some of the early scenes being reminiscent of a low-budget college made film. Thankfully, there were one or two gems where I became genuinely invested in the characters.
I enjoyed the general atmosphere, and the story was a least interesting enough that I watched to the end, and I'm glad I did. The last 10 or 20 minutes really felt like a memorable climax to an all too otherwise forgettable story.
All-in-all too drawn out to really impress.
