I always enjoy watching sean penn even though he can be a bit arse on the odd occasion. he's alright here. nothing is glazed over in this film. you see what the story is. it's about a man on death row and a nun (sarandon) helping him to cope.

penn acts exactly as you could imagine a fearful, regretful, soon to die man would. it's harsh and never bland.
