Review of Dead Man Walking (1995) by Carolyn G — 14 Jun 2009
I run very hot and cold on Sean Penn but in this film, he really was brilliant. That's not to take away from Susan Sarandon, who is just phenomenal! This is the kind of movie that forces you out of your comfort zone, to confront some of the more "icky" facts of life and the world we live in, and hopefully discuss them.
It wasn't preachy, it wasn't pushy, but it provoked real thought while engaging you in the powerful relationship between Penn and Sarandon.
