Review of Dead Man Down (2013) by D.j. N — 13 Mar 2013
We're going to change the rules with this film. If the critics' reviews are bad, that means the film is good. If box office totals for the first weekend are poor, the film is great. This is a very good film.
It's time for the critics to turn in their press cards and retire to some island somewhere. Just look at the ratings for this film. 64% of just those who manage to make their way to this website liked this film.
Don't bother to say that Colin Farrell can't act. Colin Farrell can act. He is a very good actor. He can convey more with a slight twitch of a facial muscle than most actors can with pages of dialogue.
, Noomi Rapace is an excellent actress. This was my first experience with her, and it won't be my last.I do still have a few questions/problems with the plot. But, I wouldn't have noticed them if I hadn't kept thinking about this film.
And, I have kept thinking about this film. How many times do you leave a theater and never give the film another thought? This one keeps you thinking.I'm not a devotee of this genre of film. If Colin Farrell hadn't been in it, I wouldn't have seen it.
However, I enjoyed every minute of the film. The two hours flew by.Please, please, please. Break the shackles of depending on jaded film critics and decide FOR YOURSELVES what films to see. Can't you tell by the synopsis and the trailer? Do you need Big Brother to tell you if you should see it or not?
