Review of Dead Man Down (2013) by Alex V — 15 Mar 2013

Here's a weird one. 'Dead Man Down' has all the elements of a solid noir thriller, but none of them work effectively together. Your able cast, slick direction, and workable story just plain doesn't pull it off. And this is before the finale, when the movie gives up completely and throws in some out-of-place Hollywood spectacle, then doubles back and hands us the grand daddy of anti-climactic showdowns. It's around this point that the dialogue shrivels up and dies as the movie itself makes a beeline for the nearest exit.
