Review of Dead Man (1995) by Vidal H — 14 Jul 2008
I've never met a Jarmusch I didn't like, and this film is no exception. But I have to say, I like this one the least of what I've seen by him. The acting, photography and several events and moments, mostly silent, are amazing.
What really got me down, but only enough for one star, was the dialogue. It really works on such a bizarre and fantastic level in his other films, but here it just felt so...out of place, awkward. There were moments where it was fine.
Excellent, even. But it just didn't do anything for me. However, all the other elements of the film are enough to make up for it.
