Review of Dead Man (1995) by Andrew W — 06 Feb 2009

This is probably my favorite Jarmusch film - Solid ensemble all around. Weird cameos by Crispin Glover & Iggy Pop fill out solid performances by the cast and visually beautiful echoes of the time it is set in. Almost feels like the whole thing was filmed through some sort of pin-hole camera. I loved the part where his posse leader gives a speech about life and then well..

Let's just say steps in something.

Gritty and dirty, like the old west, yet with a nice dose of modern dada and overall lovely dreary bleakness... And what humour there is really packs a punch. Lovely film.
