Review of Dead Man (1995) by Frances H — 03 Jun 2013
How this movie was so highly rated is a mystery to me. It was just plain dull, and WAY too long. There was no "dark, bitter commentary on modern American life" that I could see, and I'm usually very good at such things Yes, the journey from life to death and the analogy with William Blake's poetry and art was there, but that was obvious.
The look of the film was impressive, but another Seventh Seal it wasn't. . Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors, but both he and the good cast in this movie were wasted.
