Review of Dead Man (1995) by Eli J — 06 Jul 2013
I must be a dull cretin for not liking this film. Clearly the plot was to follow this likeable character Blake in his last days as he runs for his life from the bounty hunters. Great idea, but the pursuit by the bounty hunters was cartoonish and I never felt any suspense.
The scenes seemed randomly strung together and lacked coherent flow. The indian Nobody crosses in and out from scene to scene and talks in riddles. In some way I would have preferred a twist ending where he actually died from the initial gunshot making Nobody was his spirit guide already in the other world.
The acting was really overacting and considering the list of talent that must have come from the director. The Neal Young soundtrack that was loud, repetitive and distracting. By the end I was rooting for Blake to just die already to end this film.
