Review of Dead Like Me: Life After Death (2009) by Lady M — 02 Apr 2009
I waited for 2 years for this movie and I am sad to say it really isn't worth the time. Dead Like Me is a favorite show of mine. I own both seasons on DVD and was sad when they canceled it. Upon hearing there would be a movie I was ecstatic. I ran to the store (actually had to hit 3 because it was sold out at the first 2) and rushed home and watched it.
Mason was obnoxious in the supreme. Mason was my favorite character and in the movie they just really wore him down. Roxie and George were great as always. The new Daisy did not hold a candle to Laura Harris. I would have preferred they just leave her character out.
The story was the worst of it though. Ok I like the idea of them taking a "vacation" but several of the characters went way outside how they were built. Roxie would never just throw in the towel. The 2 seasons made it VERY clear what happens when you don't do what you have to. The whole episode where George let the guy live and hundreds of others died made it perfectly clear that this was not something that was "ok" and Roxie bonded with George in the assumption that she had also let someone live and suffered the consequences. So then if she knew about this why would she have allowed the people to live knowing it would just create havoc in the future? It just doesn't make sense.
I am probably over analyzing it but there were just too many flaws in the story. These people have learned these lessons before... why suddenly just throw it all in the wind?
