Review of Dead Like Me: Life After Death (2009) by Mallory B — 12 May 2009
I miss the Waffle House.
Let me start off by saying that "Dead Like Me" is hands down one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I loved each and every one of those crazy characters and the plots always had a wonderful twist that made everything awesome. When it was cancelled, I died a little inside (how appropriate) :/.
Hearing they made a movie, of course I jumped at the chance to watch it. Sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations. I missed Mandy Patinkin's coolness and the new Daisy couldn't grasp the character. At all. And many of the actors seemed "out of character" as well, probably due to their disconnection to the material for some time.
While the movie had some redeeming qualities, such as Reggie's plotline, bringing in a new head reaper in Cameron was disasterous. What is the reaper system without post-its!?!?! And his "end" with Murray (le chat) seemed a little rediculous. I mean, really? Ugh.
I hope one day "Dead Like Me" will return. For real. Until then, I'll kind of pretend this doesn't exist. Good try, though.
