Review of Dead Birds (2005) by Jody N — 07 Mar 2009
Wasn't expecting much from this, as in my book, in terms of the US horror is a radically abused genre these days, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. Relies on mood and atmosphere rather than pointless gratuity, and it is backed by some solid performances.
Genuinely disturbing and creepy in parts, and very claustrophobic from the out-set. Hats off to director Alex Turner, (not that I'd ever heard of him). Word.
