Review of Dead & Buried (1981) by Jason J — 17 Jun 2011
This is a creepy and somewhat violent movie from the early 80's horror spree which has a very interesting premise. It has the feel of a classic horror tale, where you're not sure who is good and who is evil. The movie has a good amount of atmosphere and a very good soundtrack. The acting is decent enough to convince the viewer that something is seriously wrong with the coastal town Of Potters Bluff. Not an incredibly gory movie, but it has a few scenes that will make you squirm. The gory moments, by renowned FX artist Stan Winston, include a nasty burns victim, an impressive 'syringe-in-the-eye' gag, a wonderful facial reconstruction scene. The slightly less impressive moment when a victim has acid squirted up his nostrils, resulting in a facial meltdown wasn't done by him. The acting is adequate enough.
A definite viewing for fans of horror and an ending I didn't see coming.
