Review of Dead & Breakfast (2004) by Johnny S — 27 Oct 2007
A premise with real potential is wrecked by a director with a lot of crazy stylistic flourishes. There were moments in this film that were (honestly) very funny, but there were too many moments when the director attempted something that he probably thought was interesting, hip, or comedic (i.e. a singing cowboy narrator, or a series of comic-book-style drawings between scenes), but that actually served only to change the tone, the look, and the feel of the entire movie.
Maddeningly inconsistent overall, as a result, and a bit boring as the shoddy story wears on.
