Review of De-Lovely (2004) by Ricky C — 15 Jan 2008
This movie is one of my absolute favorites, and I've only seen it once. That's just how impressionable it was. It truly is De-Lightful (Haha, I couldn't resist). It's one of those end of the road flash backs, but with a tiny twist.
Cole Porter watches his life as if it were a musical, as if he were the producer watching the finished product. It was a very unique idea for a very unique man. I also felt it was generally pleasant to watch, and that is one of my favorite qualities in a movie.
The story in itself is completely scandalous, and still not scandalous at the same time, and that's part of what makes Cole Porter's life story so fascinating, and the acting that portrayed that couldn't have been more perfect.
When I picked out this movie to rent, the woman at the register said something like, "Oh my GOD! DE-LOVELY is AMAZING. You'll love it!", and she was absolutely right!
