Dazed and Confused is a movie without a set plot. Nor is there a main character, or much character development.
Does that make this film bad? Not in the slightest bit. This movie was AWESOME! It takes you back to a different time, regardless if you lived in the era or not. This not having a set plot was great in my opinion; each watcher was able to reminisce on the best years of their lives. I know I did anyway. It literally felt like this was filmed on the last day of high school in 1976, and no one had any idea they were being filmed. I love the fact that's the kind of vibe I got from this.
The characters were all fairly simple, but they were all extremely likable. (except Ben Affleck's character) After watching this I felt a sense of nostalgia and happiness even though I wasn't even close to being alive in 1976. Heck, I graduated in 2011.
Another great thing about this film was the soundtrack! ALL HAIL THE SOUNDTRACK! It fit the movie so well. Dazed and Confused truly made me want to be apart of that era. This movie kept was authentic and kept it real. A feel good classic!
