Review of Dazed and Confused (1993) by Joshua G — 16 Oct 2012
Finally seeing this movie, I ask myself why the hell it has taken me this long? This is an exceptional piece of American cinema, that is almost unparalleled in the 'high-school/coming-of-age' genre.
Few films so effortlessly capture one evening in a town to such heart-warming effect. Reminiscent of 'Ferris Bueller', it isn't hard to see how this 70's 'school's out' is now a classic.
Richard Linklater is one of the most consistent and diverse directors in American cinema. The messy, sprawling nature of the film and that the style pays off is just one of it's many achievements.
Wonderful, thrilling and hopeful.
