Review of Days of Wine and Roses (1963) by Ryan J — 28 Jan 2011
I first noticed Lee Remick in "Anatomy of a Murder," and I immediately sought out her other work. Her performance in "Days of Wine and Roses," amazed me. But, of course, her performance isn't the only shining component in this film. Even Lemmon, much to my surprise, was wonderful.
I wasn't alive in the sixties, but I think it's safe to say this film was far ahead of its time. The story's darkness was something audiences of that era could not have been used to.
This is a great film. Hopefully, it'll be given a proper Blu Ray transfer soon, ensuring its availability for future generations.
