Review of Days of Thunder (1990) by Dave H — 16 Oct 2009
Maybe not QUITE as stupid as the other Cruise-Scott-Simpson-Bruckheimer product "Top Gun" - although it tries hard to be - the story is a complete lift, Duvall TALKS to his car, Kidman plays a barely adult brain surgeon, and Cruise assumes one of the most gloriously moronic names in film history - "Cole Trickle".
And - while not quite as stupid as Top Gun - it's not as much stupid fun either, dragging its introspection like a loose transmission. How much can you do really with one of the dullest sports in history? I guess Will Ferrell can answer that question now.
