Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Jon G — 01 Nov 2007
A modern American masterpiece by a man who as of 2007 has made only 4 films in the past 35 years. Terrence Malick weaves the story of two young lovers on the run after he kills a man in Chicago. With his little sister in tow, they migrate south to the Texas panhandle and continue to swindle their way by seducing a wealthy farmer.
The high point is Nestor Almedros' stunning cinematography, along with great turns by Richard Gere, Brooke Adams and Sam Shepherd.
