Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Jack G — 11 Sep 2008
This is the kind of picture that makes a reputation like Malick's, for better or worse (usually for the better, unless its the less successful sections of Thin Red Line and New World). It's almost too beautiful, and anyone who loves saying to themselves "LOOK at that shot! Just LOOK at that shot!!" would dare not miss it.
If only for Morricone's most haunting and notalgic-feeling song does the movie have meaning; it's the kind that you'll see a second time cause you want to, not necessarily cause you have to.
