Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Christopher L — 15 May 2009
"That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them as the days of heaven upon the earth." A movie bordering on the decision in favor of an easy life- through intentional yet compelled deception as opposed to a strenuous life of labor,an apple in the garden of Eden.
The visual beauty throughout glorifies the movie and the breathtaking grasslands and skies evoke slumbering sentiments of love amongst the viewers. A simple but quite familiar story takes place, and the lamenting end leaves a seeping patch of guilt, shame and regret.
The direct message of the movie is seemingly the fragile nature relationships have, and how a single mistake can proliferate into many others, making one blind to the injustice being chained on the undeserving.
