Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Josh S — 05 Feb 2011
Malick spent two years editing 'Days of Heaven'. I can see how. His movies are never finished, just released. I forget who this quote is attributed to, but 'Days of Heaven' is a silent movie with sound, which is to say (to borrow an overused hyperbole) 'Days of Heaven' is pure cinema.
Absolutely essential viewing; if I prefer 'Badlands' and 'The Thin Red Line', it's because I think they're closer to being the best films ever made. 'Days of Heaven' isn't far behind.
