Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Dustin G — 14 Jul 2011
Days of Heaven moves even closer to the Terrence Malick style that would eventually evolve into Tree of Life. Here the simple story and fantastic narration by a young girl play second fiddle to the expansive landscape of the Alberta prairie's and a couple of really impressive set pieces involving a huge fire and a plague of grasshoppers.
Less gritty than Badlands, Heaven is a more impressive film overall and shows a master hot on the trail of one of the most impressive film resume's in history.
