Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Gabriel D — 13 Apr 2013
Days of Heaven has what might be the best cinematography I have ever seen. It's a flawlessly made film filled with so many images so perfect that it feels as though they have instantly become cultural artifacts as they are seen.
Take for example all the glorious images of characters with the Farmer's mansion hovering in the background or that glorious shot of the workers running to the train. This could be Malick's best film, and that's saying a lot.
