Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Toms T — 11 Aug 2012
Now the mystery - who is author for the soundtrack of Cannes festival ident - is revealed (for me, at least). It is Ennio Morricone, and the melody comes from this film. Beautifully captured, it shows the magic of XIX century's coda not only form American, but from universal perspective - these were days, when you ought to work with your hands and hands only.
Tenderly Malick presents us series of aesthetically perfect canvas, on which well-hidden affair is portrayed, not to forget the twisted results of so-called 'white lies'. Days of Heaven is also an masterpiece of cinematography, made byNestor Almendros (Kramer vs Kramer, La Valee, Blue Lagoon etc.
).
