Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Graeme H — 08 Jul 2011
Not necessarily a surprising follow-up to Malick's debut, but, depending on your point of view, rather an expansion or rehash of it. Another fugitive joined by a lover, however, now with a sister, a strange lie and competition.
Despite some awkward artistic choices, Malick's smart direction and prairie vistas distract from this flaw well enough.
