Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Alex K — 21 Nov 2013
Astonishing looking film that needs to be framed. Each shot is so gorgeous, that there is no need for heavy dialogue. The film speaks for itself. The young narrator is a brilliant touch to add some innocence to this heavy tale of betrayal and deceit.
Richard Gere is great as the leading man, burdened with giving his love up to his boss. Tarrence Malick is known for taking his time on each film, and if every film he does is this impressive, let him take forever.
I look forward to continuing his catalogue and for his new film, Tree of Life.
