In the last 12 months we have seen a resurgence of world war II movies , and some very good ones . Atonement and and Letters from Iwo Jima are two great films that spring to mind . Days of glory is another great WW2 movie that is not just about guns and bombs but an injustice and a fight fought by brave soldiers that were and still are forgotten by the the country they gave their lives for.

During WWII, four North African men enlist with the French Army to help defend and liberate France from the Nazis. This film tells of the discrimination they faced amongst their own as they battled. The way they are mistreated often leaves them vulnerable, due to ill fitting uniforms or weapons that malfunction, but beneath it all these soldiers continue to fight for the freedom of the country they believe to be theirs.

I have seen a few foreign language films this year and I am hard pressed to think of a bad one yet , and the funny thing is each time I know I am going to see one I go into it not looking forward to it. each time I end up loving what I see.

This film is a beautifully acted and its crying shame that the majority of the cast in this movie is unlikely to be included in any film I see in the future.

Although I was born 25 years after the end of the war this has such an authentic fell about it .It draws you into the lives of the brave Muslim men who gave their lives to the country that they had never even been to.

Maybe this is not everyone's cup of tea but I can't recommend highly enough.

8 out of 10.
