Review of Days of Glory (2006) by Hugo G — 12 Oct 2008
Days of Glory is a film that's badly flawed and yet manages to be brilliant anyway. Its old fashioned, cliched even, and some things about it are just odd (Debbouze's bad arm is never properly explained away).
But it never drags, and the story is powerful, angry and moving enough to raises it above the genre average - the savagely brutal ending in particular is incredible. Channeling Saving Private Ryan (sometimes a little too much) and Glory, Days of Glory is one of the best war films of the last decade.
