Review of Days of Glory (2006) by Ian S — 16 Jun 2009
The film follows a group of of Algerian men who join up with the Free French to fight against the Nazi's and liberate France. Routinely sent in to the most dangerous situations they also have to put up with endemic institutionalised racism from their white officers and NCO'S.
The film is prety good but how many cinematic liberations of France have there been now? All the battle scenes semed reminiscent of some other film and budgetary constraints make it sem as an army of twenty or thirty men free all of France.
Worth watching to the very end for an very good example of French mendacity and ingratitude to their liberators.
