Review of Daylight (1996) by Lloyd H — 15 Apr 2013
Arguably the most cliche disaster movie ever made. Stallone is surprisingly good, but the bit part members of the supporting cast are weak and their performances are dreadful. The way they take it in turns to speak is embarrassing and the dialogue is complete garbage.
Viggo Mortensen's character seemed interesting but his role is short lived as he's killed off a quarter of an hour into the film. The cliche coincidences that cause the disaster to unfold is frustrating to watch and has no elements of originality.
The introduction of the characters is poor and their individual outcomes are predictable. The special effects are not the best but some of the set pieces are entertaining enough. In particular the turbine scene.
I did however enjoy the soundtrack, but other than that there's little that's good about this film. I'm in no hurry to watch this film again any time soon.
