Review of Daydream Nation (2011) by Jillian L — 06 Jan 2013
So, this is an interesting movie. It's very indie, voiceovers, on screen text, sidebars, the whole nine yards. All of this quirky stuff make this movie unique and interesting, since the plot itself is really nothing new.
Kat Dennings does a really good job as Caroline, but throughout the whole movie, I never really understood why Caroline was doing the things she was doing, which I think was a problem with the script.
Reece Thompson is also quite good as the classic "stoner who is actually a great guy" thing. Josh Lucas is pretty funny as Mr. Anderson, and he handles the random character shift really well.
Overall, some parts of this didn't work, others did, but this movie is quirky enough that it is at least enjoyable.
