Review of Daybreakers (2010) by Taylor B — 30 Jun 2011
Not a failure or a complete success but a rather entertaining take on vampires with some very original ideas, but sadly it doesnt have enough depth to completely flesh out some of these really cool ideas.
This gives us the"thats cool but I would like to knowe more"feel. Granted the film isnt completely challow but it isnt quite as deep as it should be. Thankfully it features some strong performances.
Willem Dafoe andSam Neill come to mind as rather effective in their respective roles. They are both really well rounded characters, one being and evil vampire executive and the other being a human freedom fighter.
On the other hand some of the important supporting characters are rather dull adn dont have the impact thay should have and thus rob the story of some drama. When it comes to action this film delivers well, even if it isnt the adrenaline fueled rush I thought it would be,but it still has its moments.
This film is definately a mixed success but it is interesting and exciting enough to warrant at least one viewing.
