Way better than UNDEAD! (also directed by Michael and Peter Spierg), Daybreakers takes place in the year 2019 and and a virus has turned the human population into vampires. Now that humans are an endangered species, the vampires capture and farm humans for blood in order to survive.
Ethan Hawke stars as Edward Dalton (no, not that pussy from the twilight series. This is about "actual" vampires), a scientist who is working to find a blood substitution. When he runs into a group of humans on the run, they ask for his help to find a cure for the virus and save the human race.
The movie had its messy points but all in all it was a fun ride. The make up and special effects were great. And what I like most was it paid tribute to ACTUAL vampire lore and not the new/crappy stories we see today.
The movie Co-stars Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man), Sam Neil (Jurassic Park), Isabel Lucas (Transformers 2), and Claudia Karvan.
