Review of Daybreakers (2010) by Geoffrey T — 11 Apr 2012
All things considered, Daybreakers is pretty good. Definitely a standout for the vampire genre. The first half has some real smarts, taking on such vital issues as corporate power and exploitation and the necessity of beings to consume.
It asked some vital questions, then there's a whole lot of blood and answers that are too easy. So it doesn't live up to the potential it sets for itself, and instead turns into a sort of derivative horror action film.
But nonetheless, I appreciate it using important ideas as a backdrop and the latter half is pretty fun, so no real harm done.
