Review of Daybreakers (2010) by Leeloo 1 — 17 Aug 2012
I love vampire films so I had high expectations for this film when I saw the trailer & I must say I was dissapointed.
So here's the story. Edward Dalton played by Ethan Hawke is a researcher in the year 2019 where there is an unknown plague that has transformed the world's population into vampires & the remaing human population is nearly gone because of this so the vampires must have blood on a regular basis or they start to change into hideous creatures so they must capture and farm every human for their blood but the humans that they are farming for their blood are slowly dying one by one. So they must find a blood substitute before time runs out.
Hold on there's more. A secret group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery that will save the human population.
Now here's what I didnt like about this film.
In every vampire film that I've seen, a vampire is biting, killing or turning someone into a vampire for their blood. Vampires are not meant to drink cold blood out of a wine bottle!!! Vampires are supposed to bite people!!!
This story was just plain boring but it was nice to look at because of the great special effects like when the guy explodes when they inject him with the experimental blood substitute but apart from that I didnt care whether they found one or not.
I was just hoping for much more to happen but it just fell flat. However, I loved seeing Sam Neill & Ethan Hawke as a vampires but they didnt bite anybody!!! Maybe I'm twisted but I guess I am but filmakers need to stick to the vampire rules!!!
