Less of a sequal than the second half to Night Watch. A slight let down because it doesn't explore the really interesting things you wanted to see more of after the first film - I think I'd liked to find out more about the Gloom than how the Night Watch organise their paperwork.
Having said that the plot eschews traditional "good vs evil" themes even though it features a climatic battle between Light and Dark. Anton treads a fine line between light and dark more in terms of who he's working for rather than what kind of Other he is - and anyone who has put family before work can relate to that!
