"I Spit On Your Grave" is a fantastic cult classic film. in the likes of "Last House on the Left" or "House by the Edge of the Park".

While I'm not usually too keen on the Rape/Revenge flicks, hence I don't think that "Last House" is very deserving of it's Cult status. I do think that "I Spit" does the sub-genre a great deal of justice.

The film focuses around an author named Jennifer Hills, who comes to a remote little hillbilly town to do some writing. While out here she runs across four not-so-gentleman, Who take it upon themselves to rape her, one of which is semi-handicapped. Jennifer collects herself and set's off for revenge.

*spoilers* the 2nd of 3 rape scenes in the film, still vividly haunts my brain. as the guy in suspenders plays the harmonica, then bends her over the broken tree and sodomizes the poor girl.

The whole film is sickening and depraved, but that's part of it's charm. It's comparable to seeing an inevitable car crash, you know it's going to be grusome and that's exactly why you can't turn away, you are curious as to just how everything will turn out.

Personally I feel if you are going to watch one of these Rape/Revenge flicks, or if you happen to like this sub-genre then I highly reccommend this one, However if this is the kind of thing that makes you sick, then you should probably avoid this one like the black plague.

The camerawork and backgrounds are some of my favorite things about this film, it has this very dream like feel to it. And the River on which all of this happens is beautiful, and makes a fantastic contrast to all of the violence and depressing things going on with in the film.

Also the acting is pretty damn good for this genre, it's no academy award winning performance, but it's very good for this type of film.

If you like "Last House" then this movie is for you, and hell mabye even if you are like me and don't usually care for these types of Horror flicks, you might wanna give it a chance.
